Youth Vaccines Were the Focus of Manitoba Public Health reports.

Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin reports a previously announced public health order comes into effect Monday.  He explained public health orders will require youth aged 12 to 17 years attending indoor sports and recreation facilities which includes schools to provide proof they have received at least one dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.  If they have not received a single dose they must provide proof of a Pharmacist approved negative from an approved rapid antigen test taken within 72 houses of when they participate.

Roussin also noted no cases of Omicron have been found in Manitoba.

Public health reported 124 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 5.2 percent. Of the new cases 48 were in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including four in Northern health.  To date over 14 thousand children aged five to eleven have received their first dose of vaccine in schools.
