Solid Waste Management is a Focus in Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan government declared last week Waste Reduction Week.  Environment Minister Warren Kaeding noted the week is a great time for Saskatchewan residents to consider waste reduction in their day to day activities whether by generating less or by recycling and composting.

The government released its Solid Waste Management Strategy annual report that gives examples of notable accomplishments for 2020-21 such as development of two province wide waste programs for consumer batteries and core household hazardous waste that helps divert potentially harmful materials from landfills and the establishment of a new Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee noting they bring a broad and diverse background and understanding of solid waste management issues and solutions to the table.

The 2020-21 annual report and other components of the province’s strategy are available at www.saskatchewan.ca.
