Local Residents Are Concerned About Our Uptown Area.

At their meeting last night Flin Flon City Council received a letter from a 45 year resident of this area.  She stated we must do something to assist our local businesses, the safety and wellbeing of all our residents as well as something about the aesthetics of our communities. She stated the vagrant homeless people loitering on Main Street are disturbing and the amount of garbage is unhealthy.

She recommended having some of the city crew members perform regular clean up on our streets, sidewalks and parks, amend or implement no loitering and no panhandling bylaws, have more of an RCMP presence on Main Street to prohibit hanging around business entrances, explore choices and meet with the groups involved to see what can be done.  She added this issue needs to be placed on the agenda of all upcoming Mayor and Council, Northern Health Region, RCMP and Chamber of Commerce Executive meetings to discuss solutions for the betterment of Flin Flon and its residents.

Council members noted they are open to solutions but it’s not just a local issue communities across the country are trying to find solutions to similar problems and they have brought it up in discussions with the provincial government. They emphasize if you see something happening contact the RCMP.
