Foster Families Are Needed in Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan government has once again proclaimed October as Foster Families Month.  It celebrates the many contributions of foster families across the province and encourages individuals and families interested in giving back to look into becoming an approved foster home.  Social Services Minister Lori Carr says foster families provide a safe and stable home to children and youth when their families are in crisis.

There are nearly 500 foster families currently in the province. The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association manages recruitment, training and support for foster families and there are currently a number of recruitment drives across the province to encourage people to learn more about becoming a foster parent.  Anyone interested in learning more about what is required is encouraged to call the Association at 1-800-667-7002 or visit www.saskfosterfamilies.ca.
