Saskatchewan is Activating its Emergency Operations Centre to Lead its Response to Record Levels of COVID-19.

Premier Scott Moe says this is being done to better coordinate the pandemic response between government ministries and staff, ensure the right resources are in the right place at the right time and provide administrative support so health care workers can focus their efforts on providing the best possible care to patients.  He notes that includes is there any ability internally to increase the ICU capacity beyond the current 130 where they are, is there a need and there quite likely may be, to make the request of the federal government and what that request would look like and that work continues and is ongoing on a daily basis but also realistic with respect to what the federal government can provide and also he wants to be very realistic as to what they can actually source internally in the province.

Moe adds responsibility for public health recommendations and orders will continue to be managed by the Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Shahab.
