This is Fire Prevention Week.  Fire Chief Jason Kuras says so far this year they are seeing an increase in the amount of wildfires over last year.  He explains this is indicative of just the fact that we had a very very dry summer, they’ve been very well maintained but in the municipality of Flin Flon they have definitely seen an increase in them.  He adds they’ve started to decrease those numbers a little bit based on the weather and how it’s been more cooler now and they’re hoping they won’t have to deal with a whole lot more wildfires in the area.  He adds all of their other numbers are about the same as they had last year with a slight increase in the amount of structure fires this year versus last year.
