The Whitney Forum Will Become More Accessible.

Recreation Director Andrew Smith says they are working on making the Whitney Forum more open to the whole community.  He explains they’re working on their accessibility and active aging stuff for the Whitney Forum right now and in addition they do have a new vaccination area where inspectors are working with the population to ensure that the Whitney Forum is safe and they are also working on making improvements to the lobby and concession area to make it more modernized.

Accessibility improvements include wheel chair access and other improvements at the entrance, a wheelchair seating section and accessible seating for people with other mobility issues, a handicapped accessible washroom, yellow stripes on the edge of steps to assist the visually impaired and they are looking at a possible lift to the lobby.  The concession is now run by Top Shelf Bistro offering more menu items at the Forum and to the community.  Smith mentioned they have also applied for Federal accessibility grants to make improvements at the Community Hall.
