Mental Health Support for Students is Increasing in Saskatchewan.

The Government of Saskatchewan is providing 225 thousand dollars over the next three years to Kids Help Phone.  This is an increase of 27 thousand dollars per year compared to 2020-21.

The increased funding will be used to promote the Kids Help Phone e-mental health services to students, staff and families to ensure students have easy access to support when needed.

Help is available in both English and French, 24 hours a day, seven days a week via phone, text, website and Facebook.  Their Resources Around Me database provides children and youth with the opportunity to search for resources in the local community including counselor and mental health support.

This funding is in addition to the nearly 500 thousand dollars the government committed last year to offer Mental Health First Aid training to school divisions with the intent to have at least one staff member trained in each school in Saskatchewan's 27 school divisions.

If you or someone you know is in need of support Kids Help Phone can be reached by calling 1-800-686-6868, texting 686868 or chatting online at https://kidshelpphone.ca
