New Case Numbers in Manitoba Remain Steady While Saskatchewan is Re-Checking Some Test Results.

Manitoba public health reported 40 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 2.4 percent.  Of the new cases 19 were in Winnipeg and 10 in the Northern region with single digits in other regions. Of the total 58,322 reported cases 362 are active, 56,772 people have recovered and 64 are in hospital with 18 in intensive care

             

Saskatchewan health reported 1291 new cases from August 18th to 24th bringing the seven day average of new cases to 184.  There were 687 recoveries over that same time. The total of reported cases has now reached 52,800. Six new deaths were reported, 100 people are in hospital with 69 of them not vaccinated and 14 are in intensive care.

              The Saskatchewan government has identified a COVID-19 testing issue that has led to a large number of invalid results.  The issue is at the Romanow laboratory specifically impacting positive tests at several Regina long term care facilities.  The results have been classified as false positives after the residents were retested.
