A Survey, Cross Walk and Airport Property Were Part of the Flin Flon City Council Meeting.

At their meeting last night City Council noted over 500 responses have been received from their Aqua Centre location survey. The City staff involved will discuss the survey and come back to Council with a recommendation.  Mayor Cal Huntley noted where the pool is located cannot be based on the survey alone but also on the ground, access to sewer and water and accessibility.

Council will request a cross walk be approved from Manitoba Infrastructure from the Walmart entrance road to the Tourist Bureau entrance because of all the vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area. Mayor Huntley noted the province will look into the need and if they deem there is not a need the city can put in a crosswalk at their own expense.

Council also resolved that the City of Flin Flon incorporate the existing Flin Flon Municipal Airport property into the City of Flin Flon boundaries. Mayor Huntley said they have some property out there that is prime real estate and they are in the preliminary stages of looking at how they can attract some development such as camp grounds, cottage lots or warehousing opportunities on the airport itself and even though they own the property unless they by resolution make it part of the City they couldn’t levy taxes and other fees.
