The North is Benefiting from Provincial Re-opening Steps.

With the province loosening restrictions for Phase Three of the reopening plan the Northern Health Region spoke to Arctic Radio to go over what this means for the north.

,A medical officer of health with the authority Dr. William Libich says residents can see the announcement of Phase Three as good news.

Libich explains the new orders will set the stage for a wider reopening down the line and provide a greater sense of normalcy.

He talked about what northerners can expect from the updated public health orders noting once again we have our families and friends over for a visit, we can attend a retail store without having that ridiculous long line up outside or restrictions on how many can enter the store, you can go to a restaurant with almost no restrictions, you can attend a much needed sporting event, movie or even have a haircut.  He says some restrictions are still going to be in place, for example the northern travel orders will remain and one of the conditions there is those travelling to the north if they’re not fully immunized and they don’t otherwise have an exemption they’re expected to isolate for 14 days and that’s to protect northerners.

Libich adds while wearing masks will no longer be required it’s still recommended that people wear them especially those who haven’t been vaccinated.
