Manitoba Kindergarten to Grade 12 Student Will Return to Classes With a Safe Re-Opening Plan in September.

Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin says with lower case numbers and increasing vaccination numbers schools will be able to return to full time in person learning on September 7th with some health and safety measures still in place including recommended mask use.  He explains they’re strongly urging people to follow public health guidance which includes wearing masks when indoors, staying home when sick, wash your hands adding this transition from public health restrictions to public health guidance will take time but they know there’s so much benefit to having our children in class full time.  That supports their health and safety as well as their mental health and wellbeing and how they learn so this plan makes all those things a priority along with the vaccinations.

Roussin noted there will be a focus on additional mental health supports and immunization of school age youth and public health officials will continue to monitor local conditions closely. Further information can be found at www.manitoba.ca/covid19/schools.
