Work Continues to Approve a COVID-19 Vaccine for Children.

Medical Lead for the Vaccine Implementation Task Force Dr. Joss Reimer says it will be a while before research is completed on a vaccine for children under 12. She explains the latest update they’ve heard from Pfizer is still that they’re expecting to have results at the earliest in late September or possibly early October but even they don’t know the exact date at this time but once they have those results they plan to submit to Health Canada for approval so her anticipation would be that the earliest to expect new approvals would be in October but there is a lot of possible changes to the date depending on what Pfizer finds in their study and how quickly Health Canada can review things so it is really an estimate only at this point.

80 percent of Manitobans 12 and over have received the first dose and 75 percent are expected to have received their second dose over the next week.
