Federal and Provincial Funding Will Support a New Aqua Centre in Flin Flon.

The governments of Canada and Manitoba have announced funding for culture and recreation infrastructure projects in Manitoba’s rural and northern communities.  The release states in Flin Flon funding will build a new Community Aqua Centre and Recreation Facility to replace a former facility which was closed in 2020 due to structural concerns.  The Federal government will provide just under 3.5 million dollars, the province just under 2.9 million with just over 2.3 million to be provided locally.

             

They note the new energy efficient facility will increase and improve community programs and recreational activities encouraging residents to swim, train and stay healthy.

 

Mayor Cal Huntley stated this investment on our community and region cannot be undersold, it is so important no only to the character of the city but the safety and health as well.  Myself and all facets of my community from the children to the seniors are unbelievalby excited about this announcement adding given everything that's going on the timing couldn't be better.
