The History of Our Area Will Be Saved.

At the Flin Flon City Council meeting Tuesday night a resolution was passed to form a local Heritage Committee.  Councillor Karen MacKinnon says the committee will be responsible for compiling and storing the history of Flin Flon and area.  The committee is made up of Beatrice Walker, Donald Peake, Frank Fieber, Les Oystryk, Katy Anderson, Doug Evans, Ken Pawlachuk and Elizabeth Andries.

             

Mayor Cal Huntley welcomed Lyn Brown back to her position as Treasurer for the City and introduced Jaimie Fleuty as their new Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

             

Council approved the Municipal Funding Application from the Flinty Boardwalk Committee in the amount of 15 hundred dollars. The money will be used for fertilizer and weed control in the Flinty Park grass area.

             

Councillor Colleen Arnold had praise for Northland Ford for the July 1st parade, the Fireworks Committee for their display and Dianne Russell for handling the Trout Festival Fishing Derby along with all the local businesses who sponsored events.  Mayor Cal Huntley noted the importance of the inclusion of orange shirts and Every Child Matters signs as part of the parade.
