Manitoba public health reported 70 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 6.2 percent. They also announced two new deaths with one each in Winnipeg and Interlake Eastern health regions. Of the new cases 29 were in the Winnipeg region with lower numbers in other regions with 20 in Northern health. There are eleven active cases reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.
The Vaccine Team’s Dr. Joss Reimer commented on fraud regarding the vaccine. She advised Health Canada has been made aware of some people claiming to have access to vaccines for sale and they’re also aware of circumstances where people have been notified about next steps after the vaccine from people who are not authorized to provide that information. She asks you to be aware that the COVID vaccine is not for sale and if anyone tries to sell the vaccine this is illegal and should be reported. She does note they have not seen this in Manitoba at this time.
To date about 1.4 million doses have been administered in the province.
