Work Continues on Future Public Health Orders.

Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin reported 61 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 6.2 percent.  He announced no new deaths.  Of the new cases 27 were in Winnipeg region and 20 in Interlake Eastern with single digits in other regions including eight in Northern health.  There are eight active cases reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.  Roussin pointed out he has received a lot of questions about opening Museums, Libraries, Art Galleries and other similar sites that weren’t included in current public health orders.  He says vaccine rates continue to climb, our numbers continue to trend in the right direction and so they fully expect to continue to be able to open things over the summer as outlined in their plan but they’re just not at that stage yet.

Of the total 56,036 reported cases 1454 are considered active, 53,443 people have recovered and 183 are in hospital with 50 in intensive care along with 11 in care outside the province.
