Manitoba Recoveries Top 52 Thousand While Saskatchewan Prepares to Reopen.

Manitoba public health reported 233 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend bringing the five day test positivity rate to eight percent.  They also reported nine new deaths with seven in Winnipeg region and two in Southern health. Of the new cases 103 were in Winnipeg and 56 in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including 41 in Northern health.  Of the total 55,331 reported cases 2166 are active and 52,041 people have recovered with 233 in hospital and 57 in intensive care along with 17 in care outside the province.  There are 25 active cases reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported 115 new cases bringing the seven day average of new cases to 69.  Of the new cases 39 were in Saskatoon and 12 in Regina with lower numbers in other zones including six in Far North East.  Of the total 48,461 reported cases 743 are considered active and 47,135 people have recovered with 79 in hospital and 12 in intensive care.  There are 15 active cases in Far North East.

              With 70 percent of adult residents receiving their first dose of vaccine and 69 percent over 12 receiving their second dose Step Three of Saskatchewan’s Reopening Roadmap will occur on July 11th when all public health orders will be lifted.  Step Two began today.  Details on the Steps can be found at www.saskatchewan.ca/covid 19.
