Use Caution When Celebrating Fathers Day.

Manitoba Deputy Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Jazz Atwal announced 183 net new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 8.3 percent.  He also announced four new deaths with three in Winnipeg region and one in Prairie Mountain health. Of the new cases 87 were in the Winnipeg region with lower numbers in other regions including 38 in Northern health.

Atwal advises you to follow public health orders on Father’s Day.  He states now is the time to show your father how much he means to you by not putting him and those he loves at risk.  He explains under the current health orders gathering indoors is prohibited but you’re able to gather outdoors. On private property you can have five visitors from no more than two other households in addition to those who reside there and on public outdoor spaces you can have up to five people in total.  He adds while the orders allow you to gather he strongly encourages you to limit your contacts.

Of the total 55,098 reported cases 2436 are considered active and 51,547 people have recovered. There are 23 active cases reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.
