National Indigenous Peoples Day is being celebrated in Flin Flon Monday.  The Friendship Center’s Program Events Coordinator Tieryn Steele it will be a virtual event.  She explains because of COVD restrictions they can’t have a big gathering but they’re going to do a virtual event in partner with Hudbay to have a community holistic wellness day called Smudging the Community.  She says there’s going to be a pipe ceremony at 7 AM with Elder Margaret and then they’re going to go around the community to the east, south, west, north and then central and smudge at each place and then once they get to Rotary Park there’ll be some traditional singing and a drum group that are going to play and they’re going to record it as well and go online on Facebook.
