At their meeting Tuesday night Flin Flon City Council received a letter from Indigenous and Northern Relations regarding the Northern Lights Fire Training which just completed its second year in Flin Flon.  The letter notes INS has received wonderful feedback from their attendees and they want to recognize the knowledge and professionalism of all those from the local fire department involved in this training in particular Fire Chief Jason Kuras for all the time and effort he has contributed to this project.  They note the firefighting skills their fire fighters have been taught by Jason and other members of the fire department is deeply appreciated and will have a significant impact on northern and remote communities.

As well the Fire Chiefs report for May indicated three alarms including a brush fire behind Aspen Grove apartments, a grass fire on Roche Boulevard and a grass and tree fire caused by a downed power line on the Cliff Lake road which were all quickly contained.  There was also a false alarm at the General Hospital, a kitchen fire on Hemlock Drive caused by an unattended stove and assistance to EMS.
