Vaccines and Following Public Health Orders are Still Important in the North.

Doctor Michael Isaac with the Northern Health Region spoke to Arctic Radio to give an update on the current COVID-19 situation in the north. He explains we continue to see cases across northern Manitoba and like the province we see our test positivity rate come down overall but community to community that hasn’t necessarily been the case so we continue to see cases right across the Region and the messaging really is staying consistent. They really need people to follow the public health orders, follow the fundamentals, the social distancing, the mask wearing because we’re not quite out of the woods yet and the biggest thing will be getting two doses of vaccine, that’s what’s going to get us back to normal life when we can lift some of these restrictions.

Isaac says the COVID-19 vaccination campaign has been going well in the region as vaccine uptake is a bit higher when compared to the rest of the province.

He states having both doses of the vaccine is imperative considering the prevalence of Delta variant cases which has appeared in all Manitoba health regions.
