Active Cases are Down Slightly in Manitoba and Continue to Drop in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 250 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 11.5 percent. They also reported two new deaths in the Winnipeg region.  Of the new cases 136 are in Winnipeg and 48 in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including 18 in Northern health.  Of the total 53,403 reported cases 3786 are active, 48,536 individuals have recovered and 293 are in hospital with 67 in intensive care along with 30 in care outside the province.  There are 18 active cases reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.  A total of 12,907 variants of concern cases have been identified with 2380 active.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported 57 new cases this afternoon bringing the seven day average of new cases to 87.  They also reported one death in the Central West zone.  Of the new cases 21 were in Saskatoon and 12 in Regina with single digits in other zones including four in Far North East.  Of the total 47,574 reported cases 46,084 people have recovered and 938 cases are considered active which is the first time since last November they have reported fewer than one thousand active cases. 109 people are in hospital with 20 in intensive care including one from Manitoba. As of Tuesday 11,463 variants of concern have been identified.
