Identified Variants of Concern Cases top 12 Thousand in Manitoba While Vaccines Administered in Saskatchewan top 800 Thousand.

Manitoba public health reported 490 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend bringing the five day test positivity rate to 12 percent.  They also reported four new deaths with three in the Winnipeg region and one in Prairie Mountain.  Of the new cases 302 were in Winnipeg and 86 in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including 27 in Northern health.  18 active cases were reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage Sherridon district. Of the total 52,751 reported cases 4069 are considered active, 47,609 people have recovered and 309 are in hospital with 62 in intensive care along with 37 sent out of province.  Variants of concern cases identified total 12,004 with 2560 active.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan reported 172 new cases over the weekend bringing the seven day average of new cases to 103.  They also reported three new deaths with two in North West and one in Saskatoon zone.  Of the new cases 42 were in Saskatoon, 30 in North West and 24 in Regina with lower numbers in other zones including two in Far North East.  There are 34 active cases reported in Far North East. Of the total 47,359 reported cases 1196 are considered active, 45,617 individuals have recovered and 101 are in hospital with 19 in intensive care.  800,772 vaccines have been administered in the province.
