Main Street Will Continue to be in Bloom This Summer

At their meeting Tuesday night Flin Flon City Council agreed to cost share the Flowers on Main Street Project with Flin Flon Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation and Hudbay Minerals in the amount of 45 hundred dollars shared three ways.  In a letter to Council FFNRC Executive Director Laurence Gillespie noted they hope to repeat the project in pretty much the same form as in previous years with some 60 flower baskets hung on Main Street, out front of City Hall and at the Station Museum.

Council received a request for a Slow Down Children Playing sign on First Avenue.  The request noted their street is long and many cars and trucks tend to go fast down the long stretch. This resulted in advice from Council to parents to take responsibility for the way their kids drive noting many complaints are received about speeding in our community with many referring to young drivers in vehicles and on All Terrain Vehicles.  They urge all drivers to slow down as there are children out in many areas.

And Council appointed the Royal Bank as their banker and awarded their dust control contract to NSC Minerals who use an environmentally safe product to control dust.
