The Victims of Residential Schools Were Remembered in Flin Flon Monday.

A display of shoes was set up in Pioneer Square Monday afternoon.  One of the organizers Cass Porteus stated the hope is this will bring awareness of the 215 Indigenous bodies found on the grounds of the former residential school in Kamloops British Columbia, residential schools and the Every Child Matters movement. She says she just thinks there should be more news coverage and it should be more of a thing like everybody needs to know what has happened in the past and what is continuing to happen to Indigenous lives everywhere so she really wanted to have the memorial for the poor 215 souls that were found so we can return them home and so that everyone has the awareness of what’s going on.

Porteus adds the history of residential schools is not talked about more, not studied enough, not investigated enough adding the dark history of Canada, stuff happening in our back yard is pushed to the back burner.
