New COVID Cases in Saskatchewan are Down to Double Digits.

Saskatchewan health reported 86 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the seven day average of new cases to 134.  They also reported one death in the Central East Zone. Of the new cases 26 were in Saskatoon, 13 each in South Central and North Central and single digits in other zones with one in Far North East.

Premier Scott Moe says they are looking at vaccine numbers as they work towards re-opening the province safely.  He explains there are just over a million people in Saskatchewan who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, in fact it’s one million 33 thousand to be exact so that means just over 720 thousand people would need to be vaccinated for them to reach that final target.  He notes that’s a very significant level of vaccine and it will provide the province with a very significant level of protection.

Of the total 46,834 reported cases 1272 are considered active, 45,022 people have recovered and 108 are in hospital with 23 in intensive care.  Variants of concern identified total 10,774 with 46 reported in Far North East.
