The immediate future looks good but more ore bodies are needed.

Vice-President for the Manitoba Business Unit of Hudbay Brad Lantz outlined for the Chamber of Commerce last night Hudbay’s plans for growing into the future with Triple Seven in Flin Flon, Lalor near Snow Lake and Constancia in Peru resulting in a significant increase in earnings by 2015.  He says they are setting record production at Triple Seven due to the start up of Triple Seven North.  He says one problem is their aging workforce so one of their challenges is to get younger and in all the years he has been here they’ve never been in a position where we really have to go out and market Hudbay and market Flin Flon and Snow Lake and make this an attractive place for people to move to.

Lantz says ore reserves have to be increased so their emphasis on exploration is going to be around Flin Flon as they need a large new anchor mine in the Flin Flon area.  He said he supports the formation of a Mining Table where companies can meet often with First Nations to work together to resolve issues.
