Manitoba and Saskatchewan Have Both Reported Higher Death Numbers.

Manitoba public health reported 295 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 12.6 percent.  They also reported eight additional deaths with five in the Winnipeg region, two in Prairie Mountain and one in Southern health.  Of the new cases 169 were in Winnipeg, 65 in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including 25 in Northern health. There are 31 active cases reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.  Of the total cases in the province 4639 are active, 43,970 have recovered and 324 are in hospital with 73 in intensive care and 9597 variants of concern cases have been reported with 2473 active.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported 118 new cases bringing the seven day average of new cases to 137.  They also reported six new deaths with five in the Saskatoon zone and one in the North West.  Of the new cases 33 were in Saskatoon and 23 in Regina with lower numbers in other zones including three in Far North East where there are 35 active cases.  Of the total 46,163 reported cases 1382 are considered active, 44,247 people have recovered and 127 are in hospital with 27 in intensive care.  Variants of concern identified now total 10,367 with 37 reported in Far North East.
