Variants of Concern Cases Top Ten Thousand in Saskatchewan and Nine Thousand in Manitoba.

Saskatchewan public health reported 151 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the seven day average of new cases to 141. They reported one additional death in the Saskatoon zone.  Of the new cases 51 were in Saskatoon and 32 in Regina with lower numbers in other zones including ten in Far North East.  Of the total 46,001 reported cases 1442 are considered active, 44,031 people have recovered and 133 are in hospital with 27 in intensive care. As of Tuesday 10,317 variants of concern have been identified in the province with over two hundred cases reported in all zones except the Far North East with 36, North East with 56 and Central West with 109.            

             

Meanwhile Manitoba public health reported 312 new cases bringing the five day test positivity rate to 13.3 percent.  They also reported one additional death in the Winnipeg region.  Of the new cases 240 were in the Winnipeg region and 34 in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including seven in Northern health.  Of the total 49,356 reported cases 4794 are active and 43,529 individuals have recovered with 318 in hospital and 74 in intensive care. 29 cases are reported to be active in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district. Variants of concern reported total 9481 with 2606 active.
