The Fire Department Received a Variety of Calls Last Month.

At their meeting last Tuesday night Flin Flon City Council received the Fire Chief’s report for April.  They responded to six calls during the month.  There were three false alarms, a smoke alarm on April 5th on Channing Drive where a microwave had been smoking causing the detectors to activate, on the 8th at Hapnot Collegiate where maintenance crews accidently set off smoke detectors and on the 29th on Hemlock where someone had activated the pull station.

They were called to a home on Church Street on the 2nd and found fire coming out a basement window.  They cleared the home, retrieved a pet and battled the flames extinguishing the fire.  They were called to a bush fire at Big Island Lake on the 17th and found an individual burning brush on the ice with no risk of fire extension found. And on the 28th they were called to a home on Hill Street and found a person trapped under a truck when a lift failed.  They lifted the vehicle with the Jaws of Life and were able to get the person out.

During the month they switched over and ensured operation of all wildfire firefighting equipment.
