In late April Flin Flon City Council applied for funding for two projects at the airport through Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program.  Late last week Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced the Federal government is making important safety investments in Manitoba.  The Flin Flon airport will receive just over 16 thousand dollars for replacement of the airport beacon to better identify the airport’s location to pilots at night and just over 287 thousand dollars to replace the sand storage shed.

The Minister noted the importance of well maintained local airports for traveling to medical appointments, getting goods to market and other services including community resupply, air ambulance, search and rescue and forest fire response.
