Two Newly Elected Flin Flon CItyCouncil Members Attended their First Meeting Last Night.

The meeting began with welcoming the two successful candidates in last week’s by-election. Bill Hanson and Leslie Beck who both have past experience on Council were sworn in taking the oath of office provided by Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Nicole Hartman.

Council received an invitation from the Flin Flon Writer’s Guild’s Harry Hobbs and the Flin Flon Public Library to have a representative read virtually at their annual poetry night at 7:30 Friday, May 28th. Councillor Ken Pawlachuk agreed to represent Council.

Council approved the Municipal Funding Application from the Hapnot Grad Committee to provide the services of the Public Works Department to hang the banners on light poles along Main Street similar to last year to honor their graduates.  The request noted it would be a wonderful thing if they could have their banners flying high for the whole community to celebrate with them as they won’t be able to celebrate at a public ceremony this year.

Councillor Tim Babcock thanked the people taking time to clean up our community including graffiti in some areas.
