Last Saturday New Democrats from across the riding of Churchill—Keewatinook Aski gathered virtually to nominate Niki Ashton as the NDP candidate in the next Federal election. She was nominated by Amanda Lathlin, NDP MLA for The Pas-Kameesak and seconded by Tom Lindsay, NDP MLA for Flin Flon along with Danielle Adams, NDP MLA for Thompson, and Ian Bushie, NDP MLA for Keewatinook.

Ashton stressed that now more than ever it is important to have a strong voice for the North.  She stated we have so much to fight for in our region adding the Federal government needs to prioritize healthcare, housing, education, infrastructure and the need for good jobs.

Ashton said that our region produces a lot of wealth for Canada but receives little in return adding we need fairness and  action noting we can and must fight for nothing less than social, economic and  environmental justice for all in our region and across Canada.
