Reported Variants of Concern Cases are Approaching Seven Thousand in Manitoba While New Cases are Down in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 334 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 13 percent.  They also announced one additional death in the Winnipeg health region. Of the new cases 241 are in the Winnipeg region with lower numbers in other regions including 25 in Northern health.  Active cases in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon District are reported to be 13.  Of the total 45,913 reported cases provincially 4543 are active, 40,358 individuals have recovered and 278 are in hospital with 70 in intensive care. Variants of concern cases identified total 6979 with 2530 active and a total of 148 have been reported in the Northern health region.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported only 129 new cases this afternoon bringing the seven day average of new cases to 187.  They also announced three new deaths with two from Saskatoon and one from Far North East.  Of the new cases 47 were in Saskatoon and 22 in Regina with lower numbers in other zones including one in Far North East.  Of the 44,841 reported cases 1825 are considered active, 42,494 people have recovered and 142 are in hospital with 27 in intensive care. As of Monday 9467 variants of concern have been identified with the Far North East at 18.
