Reported COVID Cases Have Topped 45 Thousand in Manitoba While Vaccines Given in Saskatchewan are Approaching 591 Thousand.

Manitoba public health reported 960 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend bringing the five day test positivity rate to 12.3 percent.  They also reported eight additional deaths with five in Winnipeg, two in northern Health and one in Prairie Mountain health region.  Of the new cases 668 were in Winnipeg with lower numbers in other regions including 40 in Northern health.  Active cases in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district now total nine.  Of the total 45,149 reported cases 4440 are considered active, 39,699 individuals have recovered and 258 are in hospital with 71 in intensive care.  Confirmed variants of concern now total 6137 with 2407 active with the total reported so far in the Northern region at 101.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan public health reported 363 new cases over the weekend bringing the seven day average of new cases to 191.  They also announced two new deaths with one each in Regina and Saskatoon zones.  Of the new cases 121 were in Saskatoon, 55 in Regina and 37 in North Central with lower numbers in other zones including five in Far North East.  Of the total 44.531 reported cases 2082 are considered active, 41,932 people have recovered and 137 are in hospital with 24 in intensive care.  As of Saturday 9215 variants of concern have been identified with the Far North East at 15.  They also noted the total number of vaccines administered in the province has reached 590,952.
