Increased Contacts are Leading to Increased Cases.

Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin announced 498 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 11.6 percent.  He also announced four additional deaths with two in Southern health and one each in Winnipeg and Northern health regions. Of the new cases 399 are in Winnipeg and 48 in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including ten in northern health. Roussin is concerned about contacts.  He explains since last Friday we’ve had more than 15 hundred cases reported and that’s why they have to take stronger public health actions and why they have to move Winnipeg and Brandon schools to remote learning.  He says the best way to limit the amount of contacts outside your household is to stay home so only go out for essential reasons, limit those contacts outside of your household and that’s the best way to end these transmission chains.

Of the total 42,453 reported cases 3771 are active and 37,683 people have recovered.
