New COVID Cases Continue to be Low in Northern Manitoba While Variants Continue to go Up in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 545 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend bringing the five day test positivity rate to 7.7 percent.  They also reported four additional deaths with two each in Northern health and Southern health regions.  Of the new cases 397 were in Winnipeg and 80 in Prairie Mountain with lower rates in other regions including 26 in Northern Health.  Ten active cases are being reported in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.  Of the total 35,274 reported cases 2540 are active and 35,756 individuals have recovered.  As of Saturday 2344 variants of concern have been reported with 978 active and a total of 56 reported in Northern health region.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan public health reported 500 new cases over the weekend bringing the seven day average of new cases to 236.  They also reported four additional deaths with two in Regina and one each in Saskatoon and Central East zones. Of the new cases 330 are in Regina and 89 in Saskatoon with lower numbers in other zones including one in Far North East.  Of the 41,599 reported cases 2437 are considered active and 38,667 people have recovered.  As of Saturday a total of 7160 variants of concern cases have been reported with the largest numbers in Regina at 3837, Saskatoon at 819, South East at 738 and South Central 542 with lower numbers in other zones including three in Far North East.
