There Will Be More Support for Youth Employment This Summer.

The Manitoba government will provide more than 25 million dollars to support youth employment opportunities this summer through two programs. Premier Brian Pallister says the first is a new program.  He explains the new 15 million dollar Manitoba Youth Jobs Program is a wage subsidy program that will run from May to September this year and it will support more than two thousand Manitoba businesses and organizations who will be the drivers of Manitoba’s economic recovery.  He says it will provide meaningful employment opportunities for over they anticipate six thousand Manitoba youth.  He adds the program will provide employers with a fifty percent wage subsidy for eligible employees up to a maximum of 25 thousand dollars per employer.

The province is also investing more than ten million dollars in the Green Team grant programs to help an estimated two thousand youth find summer employment.  Urban and Home Town Green Teams allow municipalities and non-profits to hire youth aged 15 to 29 to work on community project between May 1st and September 30th.  You can find more information on the Manitoba government website www.gov.mb.ca.
