The Active Families Benefit Has Returned in Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan government has introduced The Active Families Benefit Act 2021.  This legislation will re-establish the Active Families Benefit to increase youth participation in sports, culture and other recreational activities.

The benefit will provide families with an annual income of less than 60 thousand dollars with up to 150 dollars per year per child or 200 dollars per year for children who are eligible for the federal Child Disability Tax Credit.  This investment is part of the 2021-22 budget and will be retroactive to January 1st this year.  Parents who enroll their children in sport, culture and recreation activities in the 2021 calendar year are reminded to keep their receipts so they can claim the benefit with their 2021 tax filing.

The benefit is expected to assist 20,500 families or 34 thousand children at an investment of four million dollars per year.
