Council agreed to enter into agreement with HMTQ Canada represented by the Minister of Transport for assistance through the Airports Capital Assistance Program for replacement of the Aerodrome beacon to maintain safety levels at the airport and the sand storage shed at the airport. They also agreed to apply for assistance from the Municipal Service Delivery Improvement Program for water and sewer improvements to replace wood shavings with proper insulation is sewer boxes as well as for road, sidewalk and gutter improvements by conducting an engineering study that would create a systematic approach for road maintenance and in identifying decision making to help the municipality in creating an operational and maintenance plan and in prioritizing their annual maintenance activities based on the available budget.
Council was advised by letter that United Steelworkers Local 7106 will not be hosting their annual Day of Mourning ceremony on April 28th due to COVID-19. They have asked the City and businesses to lower their flags to half mast and ask people to take a moment of silence that day for all those we have lost.
