Further Variant of Concern Cases Have Been Found in Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan health reported 213 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the seven day average of daily new cases to 186.  They also reported eight additional deaths with seven in the Regina zone and one in the North West.  Of the new cases 104 are in Regina and 34 in Saskatoon with lower numbers in other zones including five in Far North East.  Of the total 32,559 reported cases 1680 are considered active, 30,449 people have recovered and 155 are in hospital with 24 in intensive care.

             

They also reported as of Thursday 1155 variants of concern have been identified by screening in the province with 973 in Regina, 70 in South Central, 69 in South East, 24 in Central East, 18 in Saskatoon and one in Far North East.

             

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the government of Saskatchewan and Indigenous Service of Canada to coordinate COVID-vaccines in on reserve communities.  The agreement will utilize existing expertise and facilities among ISC, Northern Inter Tribal Authority and First Nations communities to deliver vaccine to residents.
