The Five Day Test Positivity Rate is Down Slightly in Manitoba While Variants Continue to Climb in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 105 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 4.3 percent.  They also reported one additional death in the Winnipeg region.  Of the new cases 53 are in the Northern health region and 46 in Winnipeg region with single digits in other regions. Of the total 33,696 reported cases 1109 are active, 31 658 individuals have recovered and 146 are in hospital with 30 in intensive care.  There were no reports of new variant of concern case so the total number of variants of concern cases remains at 77.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported 168 new cases this afternoon bringing the seven day average of daily new cases to 181. They also reported two deaths with one each in the North Central and Central East zones.  Of the new cases 70 are in Regina, 25 in Saskatoon and 24 in South East with lower number in other zones including three in Far North East. Of the total 32,346 reported cases 1623 are considered active and 30,301 have recovered.  1064 variants of concern have been identified in Saskatchewan with 895 of them in Regina zone.
