COVID-19 Cases Are Being Found in More Manitoba Regions.

Manitoba Deputy Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Jazz Atwal reported 91 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 4.7 percent.  He also reported one additional death a man in his 30s in the Northern health region.  No new cases of variants of concern were reported. Of the new cases 39 are in Winnipeg, 29 in Northern, 14 in Prairie Mountain, 10 in Southern and one in Interlake Eastern region.

Of the total 33,176 reported cases 1127 are active and 31,130 people have recovered.

             

Vaccine eligibility in Manitoba has expanded to include people aged 69 and older and First Nations people 49 and older.  All appointments at the Flin Flon pop-up clinic are reported to be booked with more details on appointments to be released next week.

             

Atwal also reported public health officials strongly recommend COVID-19 testing before travel to First Nations and Indigenous and Northern Relations communities and before a resident returns to a community after being away for more than 48 hours.
