An Agreement and Bylaw Updates Were Part of the Flin Flon City Council Meeting Last Night.

Council passed a resolution to enter into an agreement with the Flin Flon Junior Bomber Hockey Club regarding an outstanding account with the city in the amount of 27,492 dollars.  The agreement notes the City will forbear from taking steps to collecting the amount and in the event the Hockey Club sells its Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League franchise it will firstly apply the proceeds of the sale toward the payment of the outstanding account in full and should the Hockey Club annual profits exceed 100 thousand dollars payment will be due on the outstanding balance. Councilor Tim Babcock noted the amount owed is the result of the playoffs being cut short two seasons ago and they had no season this year so the amount will remain on the City’s books until when or if one of the listed provisions is met.

Council passed on final reading three bylaw updates they gave first reading to at their last meeting.  They confirmed the establishment of a Library Board, established standards of maintenance and occupancy for property and adopted rules and regulations for public cemeteries.

They received a request from the Flin Flon Pride Committee to declare the week of July 2nd to 11th Pride Week with a flag raising at City Hall at 5 pm July 2nd depending on provincial restrictions with the Mayor and interested Councilors attending. They also requested permission to re-paint their rainbow crosswalk beside the Royal Bank in June.
