COVID -19 Recoveries are Approaching 31 Thousand in Manitoba While Active Cases Have Dropped in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 110 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate up to 5.2 percent.  They reported no additional deaths but did reported 13 additional confirmed cases because of the B.1.1.7 variant of concern and one of the B.1.135 variant all from the Winnipeg health region bringing the variant total to 55.  Of the new COVID cases 71 are in Northern health region and 31 in Winnipeg region with single digits in other regions.  Of the total 32,903 reported cases 989 are active, 30,997 individuals have recovered and 151 are in hospital with 22 in intensive care

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported 156 new cases this afternoon bringing the seven day average of daily new cases to 138.  They also reported two additional deaths with one each in Regina and Far North West.  Of the new cases 101 are in Regina and 16 in Saskatoon with single digits in other zones including seven in Far North East.  They noted 66 new confirmed cases of variants of concern with 61 in Regina, two in South East and one each in Saskatoon, Central East and South Central bringing the provinces total to 136 as well as 210 presumptive cases.  Of the total 30,883 reported cases 29, 461 people have recovered and 1292 cases are considered active which is lowest since November 9th.
