The Northern Health Region in Manitoba Continues to Have the Higher Number of New COVID-19 Cases While Cases Took a Jump in Far North East Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 88 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 3.7 percent.  They also report three additional deaths with two in the Winnipeg region and one in Northern health.  Of the new cases 50 are in the Northern health region and 31 in Winnipeg region with single digits in other regions.  Their dashboard shows six active cases in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.

             

Of the total 32,509 reported cases 1204 are active, 30,394 individuals have recovered and 156 are in hospital with 22 in intensive care.  A total of 22 confirmed variant of concern cases have been reported in the province.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported 165new cases this afternoon bringing the seven day average of daily new cases to 139 the lowest since November 13th. They reported no new deaths.  Of the new cases 51 are in Regina, 24 each in Saskatoon and Far North East and 19 in North West with lower numbers in other zones.  Of the total 30,193 reported cases 1395 are considered active and 28,397 people have recovered.

             

The Saskatchewan government has announced nearly 29 million dollars in approved funding to support schools during the pandemic with sanitation, substitute teachers, procure PPE and assist schools in ensuring proper supports for students are in place for the fall of 2021.
