Lifesaving Manitoba is Advising Against People Going Out on Bodies of Ice.

The organization’s Doctor Christopher Love says all ice in the province is potentially unsafe.  He explains they are recommending right now that nobody should be going out on the ice so they’ve issued an ice advisory.  Their concern is that we’ve had above average temperatures in the province over the last few days and it’s predicted that is going to continue for the next week and because of that ice thickness and ice conditions are going to be unpredictable.  He adds there’s a very high chance that the ice could be weakened in places where people are not expecting it and they are trying to avoid any tragedies from occurring out there.

Love says now’s not a great time for parents and caregivers to teach their children about ice safety and an Ice Smart activity book is available on their website www.lifesaving.mb.ca.
