Manitoba is Expanding the Age of People Eligible for Vaccination.

Manitoba public health announced 64 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate down to 3.9 percent.  They also reported one additional death in the Southern health region.

Medical Lead on the Vaccine Implementation Task Force Dr. Joss Reimer reported eligibility has been expanded for vaccines.  She explains for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines they are continually reviewing how many appointments they have open and how many phone calls they’ve been getting through their booking system and they’ve decreased the age of eligibility as they see those opportunities remain open so they have already decreased it to 94 and 74 for First Nations individuals and their team is going to continue to look at that every day and right now their estimate is going to be by next week they are going to be able to reach people who are over 90.

Of the new cases reported 33 are in Northern and 26 in Winnipeg region with single digits in other regions.  Of the total 31,721 reported cases 1197 are considered active and 29,635 individuals have recovered.
