A COVID-19 Outbreak in The Pas is Over While New Variants Have Been Found in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 68 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to five percent.  They reported no additional deaths.  The outbreak has been declared over in the dialysis unit at St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas.

             

Of the new cases 47 are in the Winnipeg region and 21 in Northern health with single digits in other regions.  Of the total 31,551 reported cases 1212 are considered active, 29,453 individuals have recovered and 216 are in hospital with 33 in intensive care.  The total number of confirmed B.1.1.7 variants of concern is up one to five with no details released on the new case.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan announced 122 new cases this afternoon bringing the seven day average of daily new cases to 156.  They also reported four additional deaths with three in Regina and one in Saskatoon zone. Of the new cases 37 are in Regina, 25 in Saskatoon and 16 in Far North East with lower numbers in other zones.  Of the total 27,923 reported cases 1530 are considered active, 26,017 have recovered and 174 people are in hospital with 16 in intensive care. They have also identified their first two cases of a more contagious strain of COVID-19 with no known links to travel found in Regina.
